Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how the BibleSteps iOS application ("App", "we", "us" or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the App and this website.
BibleSteps is a simple step counter that displays step data from Apple Health. We designed it to be minimal, private, and easy to use.
2. Information we collect
2.1. Within the app
The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide personal details such as your name, postal address, phone number, or email address in order to use its core features.
The App requests permission to read your step count from Apple Health through HealthKit. This permission is used only to display your steps in the App.
The App does not collect, transmit, sell, or store your step count data on our servers. We do not request or use geolocation, and we do not integrate third-party analytics or advertising SDKs that track you across apps.
2.2. When you contact us
If you choose to contact us by email at historicalstepcounter@gmail.com, we will receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message. We use this information solely for the purpose of responding to you and providing support.
3. Health data
BibleSteps uses Apple Health / HealthKit only after you grant permission. You can change or revoke Health permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Health data accessed by BibleSteps is processed on your device for the purpose of showing your step count. We do not use Health data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App's step counter functionality.
4. How we use information
We use the information we receive only to:
- display your step count inside the App after Health permission is granted;
- respond to your questions, feedback, or support requests; and
- maintain records of communications where reasonably necessary, for example to handle support requests or comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Data storage and retention
We do not operate our own user account system for the App and do not maintain personal usage profiles.
Step count data from Apple Health is not stored on our servers. Any Health data shown in the App remains controlled by Apple Health and your device settings.
If you contact us by email, we may retain your messages for as long as reasonably necessary to respond and handle your request, resolve issues, and comply with legal obligations. You may request that we delete previous correspondence by emailing historicalstepcounter@gmail.com, subject to any legal requirements to retain certain records.
6. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has provided personal information to us via email or other direct contact, please email historicalstepcounter@gmail.com so we can review and, if appropriate, delete that information.
7. Third-party services
The App is distributed through Apple's App Store and uses Apple Health / HealthKit to read step count data with your permission. Your use of Apple services is governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control.
This Privacy Policy applies only to the BibleSteps App and this landing site. It does not apply to any third-party websites, apps, or services that may be linked from within the App or from this site.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. The updated policy will be effective when it is posted on this page.
